Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and organized Medical Assistant to join our clinic team. The Medical Assistant works closely with providers, nurses, and other staff to support patient care and help keep the clinic running efficiently.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced medical office, communicates well with patients and coworkers, and pays close attention to detail. This position requires strong clinical and administrative skills, a patient-focused attitude, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for examinations and procedures
• Obtain and accurately document patient medical histories, medications, allergies, and other relevant information
• Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, weight, and other clinical measurements
• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
• Administer injections and medications as directed and permitted by training and clinic policy
• Perform basic clinical procedures within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
• Collect specimens and assist with laboratory testing as assigned
• Perform or assist with point-of-care testing
• Prepare exam rooms and ensure supplies and equipment are available and properly maintained
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Review and route patient messages, refill requests, and other clinical tasks to the appropriate team member
• Communicate provider instructions and follow-up information to patients as directed
• Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, care coordination, and other clinical support tasks as assigned
• Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
• Follow infection-control, safety, HIPAA, and clinic policies and procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical work areas
• Work collaboratively with providers, nurses, front desk staff, and other team members to support high-quality patient care

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient environment
• Comfortable using computers, electronic medical records, and other healthcare technology
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements
• Dependable, professional, compassionate, and patient-focused
• Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications 

• Previous experience in a primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, urgent care, or other outpatient clinic setting
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential
• Experience with electronic medical record systems
• Experience administering injections and vaccines
• Experience with point-of-care testing, referrals, prior authorizations, or prescription refill workflows
• BLS/CPR certification
